Although we were founded back in 1840 by Charles White the 1st we’re anything but old-fashioned. Throughout our history we have constantly adapted to what’s going on round about us, discerning specific needs of people to offer the best possible service to our clients. We’ve reacted quickly to changing times and have collected some stories along the way, here’a few things that have happened over the years…
Charles White (the 1st!) starts working in Edinburgh. Incidentally the building of the Scott Monument started this year too.
Charles White the 4th let a cornershop on Buccleuch Street to a young Tom Farmer with the words ‘don’t let me down’. Sir Tom Farmer went on to found Kwik-fit, the world’s largest independent tyre and automotive repair specialists.
With Sean Connery’s parents as tenants in Fountainbridge, the James Bond star caused a stir with our 2 lady members of staff when he came into the Nicolson Square office.
Charles White (the 5th) sells the company and Charles White Ltd begins.
A large Edinburgh property company is acquired and integrated into Charles White.
We spread our wings and make inroads in Glasgow.
A Glasgow property company is acquired to keep things progressing.
We partner with an organisation in India and help build a school there.
we take the plunge (not literally) and open an office in Belfast.
It’s our 170th birthday!
A Belfast property company is acquired and we move into a nice new office in Belfast city centre.
We decide to focus entirely on block management and sell our letting business.
After over 40 years in Morningside we move to a new office at Haymarket.
Launch of the newly improved Charles White Portal along with a Charles White App, providing our clients with instant and convenient access to key account information, aligned to our vision of service excellence.
The specialist in-house support team has been strengthened to include Property Surveyors working together with our Architectural Manager to deliver property maintenance expertise.
Our in-house support team continues to develop and now includes a dedicated Contracts Manager, Property Inspector and two Client Relationship Support Managers providing valuable experience to our Client Relationship Managers.
